Welcome to Kallyhouse
Kallyhouse is situated at Barrytown on State Highway 6, ten minutes south of Punakaiki and on the fringe of the Paparoa National Park. This part of the Coastal Highway is known as the Golden Mile and is listed in the Lonely Planet Guide as one of the must see highways of the world. It is the tourist route to the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki carrying over 500,000 people to visit the Rocks each year.
The two-storey residence is ideally positioned to provide Bed & Breakfast accommodation for discerning tourists from around the globe, travelling from the Abel Tasman National Park in the north and the Southern Lakes and Glaciers in the south.
Kallyhouse is built on an elevated site, 160ft above sea level, and overlooks the Tasman Sea, with 180-degree panoramic sea views. It borders onto the Paparoa Range with native bush to the rear and has a west-facing aspect which provides all day sun.
Kallyhouse is situated in a unique environment with a frost-free microclimate that can support exotic fruits, flowers, trees and shrubs. Native birds are in abundance, and it is an easy sealed walk or drive to the water’s edge.
Your hosts Alister and Kath Schroeder
We both are from rural farming backgrounds and love having people to stay with us. Kathy loves hand crafts, while Alister tinkers in his shed and goes fishing, when Kathy's list of tasks has run down.
